Jeff Amaral

Varsity Head Coach

Jeff Amaral takes the reins as the varsity coach this year, after 8 years coaching the Frosh/Soph and JV squads and last year as the Varsity Assistant Coach. Jeff is a former Mira Costa student and varsity basketball player, and also works as a counselor at Manhattan Beach Middle School.

Brian Fuhrmann

Varsity Assistant Coach

Coach Fuhrmann moves up from the JV staff after a successful first season as the JV head coach. Brian was a big time scorer in high school who now preaches one thing: DEFENSE. His background in coaching high school basketball in New Jersey helps bring experience and patience to the Mustang coaching staff. A trusted voice to Coach Amaral, Coach Fuhrmann always has timely advice and ideas when it matters the most.

Jason Price

Varsity Assistant Coach

Coach Price joins us for his first season with Mira Costa. A player for Principal Dale at Littlerock High School in Palmdale, Jason brings intensity that helps get the most out of the players and a personality that the players all appreciate and respond to positively. Jason looks to bring a new level of toughness to the Varsity players this season. Joining the staff just this September, Coach Price has already proven to be a valuable addition to Mira Costa basketball.

Tim Cooper

Head Trainer

Tim has 20 plus years of training experience at Mira Costa. Originally brought on board to train the basketball team he has become a school fixture and someone athletes and coaches rely on consistently during their time at Costa. Whether it is taping ankles or healing a wounded psyche, Tim will continue to be a source of health for the Mira Costa boys’ basketball team again this year.
